Soon to buy newbie
#1
Morning. Just thought I would say hello. I just recently passed my test and been looking at bikes for last month or so and can't find anything on my budget that tickles my fancy.
My dad got chatting to some bloke in pub who has an 02 Fazer, got just short on 6k miles. He's the 2nd owner and it's just been stood in his garage for last few years. He had no intention of selling but he would sell to me ...
Admittedly the Fazer never took my fancy, but the more I look into it the more I like about it.
But I wanted to pop up on here just to see what advise you could throw my way.
I have looked at a few posts and have a general idea of things to look out for but any further advice will be much appreciated Smile

Welcome....You're on the right forum for an impartial review  Big Grin .....what model is it a 600 or 1000.

I have had both FZS600 boxeye and am now on a Gen1 FZS1000.

The 600 is a well capable bike, fast, nimble and a great first big bike. If you've just past your test I would recommend the 600 as a Gen1 may just be too big a step for you as they are foccin rapid.

Hey thanks for the reply Smile
It's the 600, missed out an important part there ! Ha  fox eye obviously with it been 02.
When I first passed my dad said I could get insured on his Daytona cos iv rode it a few times but he has since dodged the subject ! Lol
I haven't really seen a bad thing about the fzs600 other than its looks. And the one I'm looking at is red ..  oh well :/
But for something that's 12 years old and done barely 6k miles, been looked after and it's just within my 1st bike budget I think I'd be silly to say no .. Smile

congrats on passing your test odbguy. the 600 fazer ticks all the boxes for a first big bike and a few more.  everyone sees and wants other bikes most of the time but fazers are hard to beat.

Cheers very much Bri.  I must admit,  after looking into them I feel silly for straight away ruling them out til this one came along.
I'm going to look at it tomorrow so see what happens Smile

Welcome to the wonderful world of  :faz s!

Lovely looking bike; you'll find you made a good decision. Looks nice in red, and a very clean example. If you're going to ride it through the winter, get some ACF50 and give it a thorough treatment. It'll preserve those pristine looks better than anything else.

When i passed my test over 8 years ago i got an sv650, its done me well for all these years (bought a gen 2 yesterday!). You'll have a cracking time on a 600, on my daily commute i always saw a guy each day coming the other day on his fz6s, and i taught a chap at the university i was doing my phd at who had a fazer 600, it was holding up well despite him not being the most careful of people!

Cheers Nick, could you advice on what ACF50 is please mate.
I very almost  bought an SV650  that dude.  Similar looks to Fazer with the half fairing.  Tbh I like the naked look on the SV.
Anyone know if it's much hardworking to make this conversion?? Just our of interest.
