Sorry, this old chestnut again.
Trying to remove the studs on my Fazer 1000. A couple are slightly bent & all are rusty so they have to go, but on the plus side none have snapped....yet.
The first big question is, these studs are meant to be 6mm right? (I would measure them but most of my tools are boxed up as I'm moving house at the end of the week).
Reason for asking is, I borrowed 2 stud extractors today (the socket type), one 6mm & another 8mm. Couldn't get the 6mm on to the bolt at all, the 8mm did grip a bit but the stud didn't budge before the extractor lost grip.
I've tried the 2 nut method. No luck with that so far, but I'm not sure how far I can really push the tightening of the nuts as I don't want to stretch the stud.
I'm thinking of getting one of the collet stud removers from Snap On, granted they aren't cheap, but if they do the job, I really don't care.

Failing that maybe give these Laser Impact stud removers a go.

If all that fails it looks like either going down the mig welding option or cutting them off & drilling them out.....or just buy another cylinder head :rolleyes
