I'm beginning to suspect my 2002 foxeye has an aftermarket fairing fitted.
Is there a way to tell between the cheap ebay ones and the genuine article?
Genuine ones are plastic and aftermarket are fiberglass in my experience.
Why do you think your one is fake?

It wouldn't be fun if it was easy, I just wish it wasn't this much fun.
There are no decals on the fairing when you buy a new one from Yamaha. Have you got the in-fill panels fitted?
Another ex-Fazer rider that is a foccer again
My Fazer had no decals, but had a stock fairing. Some people don't like the decals and take them off deliberately. Unlikely, true, but possible.

I picked up a fibre glass knock off fairing. Key difference was the inside: a rough black finish with fibre texture visible, compared to a smooth plastic colour matched inside. Also only the original has lugs along the sides for the infils to slot into.
"Have you got the in-fill panels fitted?"
This is a good question about your road niose, and also interesting that the road noise could be from fibreglass fairing as opposed to plastic
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.
I do have the infill panels and my fairing appears to be ABS not glass.
I suppose I'll have to look elsewhere for my road noise issue.
