Frazer oil change

Is there an easier way to change oil? Rather than taking the manifold off?
Also how much oil needed?
I don't have anything witty or funny to say. For an update check back in 2025

No need to take off the exhaust manifold. if you do a search then I'm sure there was a thread about this before which stated how much oil was needed both with and without a filter change.

The filter is a bit of a tight squeeze but once you've unscrewed it then it should manage to come out the right hand side between the down pipes and the engine.

From experience i wouldn't recommend Magnatec in a Fazer, but otherwise this is a very informative video about oil and changing it.
It's a different bike but the same difference, it's still just a container that holds oil.


When draining the oil start engine for a couple of minutes to warm it up a bit, and have bike on side stand.
FZS600 hasa 2.5 litre sump, and a bit more oil needed if changing the oil filter as well, but when the bike's on level ground and now on the centre stand just fill up about two thirds of the way up in the oil window, between the markings.

Unless a Thundercat filter has been put on at some stage (as that filter is a fair bit deeper than the Fazer one)  the filter will unscrew easily, if not a standard filter then rather than taking the downpipes off I'd destroy the filter, cut it in half even.

Unlikely that someone took the pipes off to change the filter before though so it will fit between the engine and downpipes.
Another ex-Fazer rider that is a foccer again

Can also replace the oil filter with a K&N one which has the handy nut on the end for easy removal in the future.

There is a manual you can look at in the "downloads" section on here, but it still doesn't beat the hard copy of the Haynes manual, you can get one delivered from Ebay for £16.50, it will make your life so much easier.  Wink


(Do yourself a favour and get an extended front mudguard for your bike, it will help extend the life of your original downpipes a bit more)
