Heli came back with new engine on Thursday, so I did my annual "Licence Proficiency Check" flight assessment today. Nerve-wracking, even though it's a regular examination, I always feel like I'm going to forget how to fly!
But, it was successful, so another 12 months flying until the next one, so I can relax now.

This morning I took the Mondeo to work as my bike's off the road awaiting an mot. I mot'd the Monoxide Hag last week and I'd hardly used it since the last one. Bought a couple of SORNed Beetles to restore, not realising the SORN isn't transferable. Two £88 fines on cars that were tax exempt anyway. Live & learn eh? :\

Had a brilliant weekend with my wife Liz. We walked 3 miles to the pub last night and had some beautiful, Kriek, cherry beer, then went to a Thai Restaurant. Got up this morning, took the dog out walking for an hour, cycled 17 miles on our mountain bikes and then went to Leics Airport, jumped into Oscar Yankee (it's call-sign) and flew over to Rockingam (a few cars on track, but not many), then over Rutland Water and back.
Happy faces ! ![]() Came home, mowed the lawn........ And logged on to FOC-U. All in all, a pretty good weekend so far.

Met a friend on the way home from work on his new KTM adventurer (2 months old).
Took it for a spin................The only thing I could liken it to, was that it was like riding a mad horse. :lol The low down torque was something else. Surprisingly low comfortable seat and it handled great. I came back grinning from ear to ear. Great fun but would I buy one? No. I just like the inline fours to much ![]()

Begun the process of replacing all the brake discs and pads on my car...
I got lucky that both sets turned up today as I'd ordered them on eBay from different sellers and the rears weren't due to arrive until Thursday However, whilst the fronts were a doddle the rears are being absolute pigs. All the caliper sliders were stiff and both pistons are semi-seized as well... I got away with winding back the pistons on my sisters car (she also has an MG ZS) with a pair of pliers but mine weren't having any of it, so now I'm waiting on a delivery of a rewind tool so that I can get the job finished Next tasks are to replace the Cam Belts (yes, more than one...), Clutch, Gearbox, Exhaust (it has many holes...) and take a look at the throttle body / air intake... this is going to be one hell of a mission

Just arrived home after 60 miles on the Dolan carbon fibre, in the quiet lanes between Ellesmere and Shrewsbury.
Fuel consumption: 1500mls of Torq energy. An afternoon of watching the Tour de France now. |
