A lot of Ford Fiestas are in very low insurance groups.
If you've not had a car before, therefore no No Claims Bonus to your name, consider how much the insurance will be!
It may be worth asking current insurers if they'll pass on the NCB to you.
My mum's inherited all of dad's 7 yrs NCB as she was a named driver on his policy.
Thanks everyone for your replies. It looks like ATM I should stick with the Focus as my commuting journeys and general use are mostly short trips. I might be looking to a longer commute in the future, and will maybe consider changing if/when this happens then.
Corsa with the 1.3 CDTI engine is good on fuel and only £30-35 tax a year. My mrs had one and easily did 400 miles on a tank. Only a 44 litre tank from memory. think they have about 70bhp so also go well enough.
Personally having had to work on a few French cars over the years I would avoid like the plague.. Poorly designed when doing work on them. but then if you are having someone else do it that does not matter.
Somebody commented that cars are boring after riding a bike.. I assure you driving an Impreza as my daily drive I can tell you they are not. Probably the closest you can get to a bike in car terms. Noisy and more raw than most other modern cars.
But then 16mpg and £490 tax is a kicker lol
Lord,
Grant me the WD-40 to move those things that are stuck, the Duck tape to fasten those things that are loose, And the wisdom to know the difference.
Amen
I couldn't afford a Volkswagon . so bought an astra instead , I wouldn't buy a French car the Peugeot 406 I owned was a money pit .
