Headlights - have mine been modded?
#1
Hi All,

I recently bought my '03 model and last night I was asked what had been done to the headlights.  The enquiry is from a fellow at a local bike club I've just joined.

My bike has the foxeye style headlights, they both are on constantly and I just have a rocker switch for hi/low beams.  Apparently only one light should come on with the low beam and the other on high beam. That sounds bonkers to me. Also, they're a lot brighter than standard bulbs he reckons.

I hope someone here can set me straight. It all seems normal and what I'd expect to me.
I'm not really questioning my fellow biker from the club as his wife has a Fazer so his experience is from that. If anyone knows what kind of mod has been done, I'll pass the knowledge on so he can sort his better half's bike. They're doing some kind of charity run soon; 1000+ miles in 24hrs, so I guess half decent lights might be a bonus!

Can any of you Foccers shine some light on this one? Excuse the pun... ;-)

Are we talking 600 or 1000?

To the best of my knowledge, the 03 onwards 1000s don't have a headlight on/off switch but both dipped lights come on automatically once the motor has started.  Hi/lo beam switch as usual on the left.

If yours is a 600, best ask this question in the General forum. Smile

Both should come on with the 03 model. It was only the early model(600) that used one headlight for dip and one for main beam.
If it's broken, it's not fixed.

Thanks Falcon & nicko. Mine's a 1000 but my club buddy's wife probably has the 600. I'll tell him she needs an upgrade! ;-)

if his wife does have the boxeye 600 (they fixed it on the foxeye) - there is a headlight mod that can be done to help the woeful lights out. point him in the way of this site as there is loads of threads and guides on it hidden in the depths if you search for it Smile
