Thought I would try out my sisters Karcher pressure washer-No NOT on the Fazer! Have scoured 10 years worth of grime/slime off slabs in back garden/side path-most of the s**t ended up on me but the results are good. :lol Finished off with some builders sand in the cracks-jobs a good one & will feel a lot happier back pedalling Fazer out of shed on terra firma! :lol

Fiddled with the FJ 1200 - got a Thundercat 17" back wheel which after measuring seems as though it'll be a simple fit. Wheel spindle is the same diameter (although the 'Cat one is hollow), just 8mm to take off the spacer on the chain side and 8mm skim off the caliper carrier on the other side. Sprocket is the same offset from the wheel centre-line as the FJ and the FJ sprocket even fits straight onto the 'Cat carrier. Rear FJ caliper also fits directly onto the 'Cat carrier and the torque arm mountings are the same. Woo hoo!

There's a very slight difference in the numbers cast into the wheel from the 'Cat and the wheel on my son's '03 Fazer. I've checked out the brake elements as well and they're all different - but I haven't taken the Fazer wheel out to check the wheel unit itself.
As luck would have it, I can't lay my hands on the spacer for the brake-side (the one that sits between the bearing and the caliper carrier) - so I think I"'ll have to trawl for one - as the caliper mounts are different, I can't use a Fazer spacer.

Apparently I got rather confused - March is sort of like May... they both start ma- Managed to book it in today so now sat in a reception waiting on the verdict...

Many many more advisories than last year which isn't so great, but nothing I can't handle once I have a garage ![]()
06-05-14, 04:48 PM
Damn those advisories.
A Note to Garage: If it needs doing, do it. If it doesn't and its not unsafe, why mention it ???
Yamaha Fazer 'the only bike you'll ever need' maybe ???
