each to their own but even if i do say so myself THE PARMO is the tastiest shit in the world.

A parmo is often accompanied by chips with a salad, usually consisting of shredded cabbage, lettuce, tomato, cucumber and onion. Garlic sauce is a popular accompaniment on Teesside.
The parmo is generally available in two sizes, and terminology varies between outlets:
  • Large or full parmo
  • Half, Lady or regular parmo
A new edition of the parmo has recently emerged in Hartlepool "the parmo wrap" (also sometimes referred to as a 'Ridley Wrap') which as standard is a half parmo wrapped in a large naan bread with an optional choice of garlic sauce.
Parmo hotshot - chicken or pork topped with cheese, pepperoni, peppers, garlic butter and chilli (my personal favourite)
usually around 2600 calories and 150g of fat
so slightly more than your daily allowance yes  :evil :evil :evil

Good bit o parmology there Keith 8)

I can confirm that my home made parmo was one tasty dish...ill be making it again for sure.....instead of bechemal i used the dolmio white cheesy sauce for lasagne....a bag o mixed grated cheese a la LIDL, i shredded up lettuce and mixed in some luxury garlic and cracked pepper mayo.....also had shredded, pickled red cabbage, potato wedges & oh so randomly some shredded celeriac that i found...it was devine..& 3 of my 5 a day no less!....look forward to trying out with pork next time.

Mr Midden....on the chips front.....for wales trip there's a nice chippy in Aberaeron...could be worth a visit from the  :faz  Food critics......went there with slim once, eat in or takeaway although i think the sea air adds to the flavour a bit

Guid Fish Suppers are hard to come by these days.  And I agree very hard to find doon sooth Big Grin

I was in the wee chippy in Dunkeld not that long ago.  It was busy, and everything is fried to order.

A wee old American lady walked in;

Aye, whit wid ye like hen?
Do you do Pizza?
Sure we dae pizza, but we deep fry it.
You what!?
We deep fry it, ken?  Like in there wi the fish and the chips, ken? (opens the frier and points in it)
Yeah OK, I'll have one.
Cheese and tomato, or cheese and onion?
Cheese and tomato please!
Wid ye like it in batter hen?
You what!!??
In batter like the fish, ken? (lifts half fried fish oot o the frier and show wee American lady)
Oh, I dunno.
It's guid, really guid, ken?
Oh, what the heck, why not, I'll have it in batter.
That's me girl, the full bhoona, you'll love it.

You'd have to be there, you could see every bodies shoulders going up and doon.  I just hope she was OK the next day!

Anyway my favourite chippes,

No.1 The Best - Mr Pia Inveraray.  Fish supper west coast style.  Fried to order.  Fresh fish, perfectly cooked (so many places over fry), batter crisp on the outside, soggy on the inside, plus perfect soggy chips.  Not cheap, but the fish is good quality and fresh from the fish monger everyday.  Always stop when I'm passing through.  Always spot on.

No.2 Mhor Fish Callander http://mhor.net/fish/  Fish shop, restaurant and chippie.  Excellent fish super.

No.3  The terribly named - Real Food Cafe Tyndrum.  http://www.therealfoodcafe.com/  A fast food joint, but the way fast food joints should be.  Let down a small tad by it's fish (probably supplied in bulk frozen).  But it's fried to order, the batter if good, if you order the large super it's massive and the chips are very good.

Most chippies are a waste of space, time and money.  I personally can't believe the crap that is served up by some of em.  Dreadful.  But those are three chippie I use time and time again, all top notch.
