A good rider doesn't need ABS.
No ABS or Traction control for me, I like to control bike myself. Don't need or want a computer to take over

So as to sign it means you are against compulsary fitment of abs ?
An ageing test pilot for home grown widgets that may fail at anytime.

ABS has to be one of the best safety features for motorcycles invented since disc brakes, flashing indicators and half decent lights.
Wonder how many on this forum can remember back in the day on old British bikes when you pulled the brakes on it nearly had the same effect as pulling the fecking clutch lever in.

Granted good gizmo for new or inexperienced riders so therefore maybe put them on the A2 class bikes but give me good standard of normal brakes and the right to ride my bike, NOTHING should be compulsory if

the bike passes the current mot I am wearing a helmet and If I speed then its my license


Next thing  will be  ferkin yellow vests stabilisers no mods and the bikes restricted to 90bhp ffs

I got and have rode my  bikes for 35 years  for the enjoyment of the ride the freedom and the thrill if you cant ride a bike without the need of ABS I suggest you get off them altogether

SO NO ABS UNLESS YOU WANT IT

Ive locked up my front end twice now....im a twonk!......i would like ABS but i dont think it should be required for everyone.
Easiest way to go fast........don't buy a blue bike

The crazy thing: New riders can generally only afford old bikes. So they can't get ABS.

As for your comment above, Keith, that's what France tried/is trying. Yet they still don't have MOTs for bikes...

I think this is a waste of time as legislation has already been passed. Not sure of dates but any bike over 125cc after around 2016 WILL have ABS.
They will also have traction control. Along with lights, indicators, an MOT and riders wearing helmets. Sorry but we are not allowed to choose and never have done!

An argument could be, if you think you don't need abs as you've never locked your front wheel, then you'll never use it if its fitted so what are you bleating about :lol

I cant remember ever doing it on the bike and I cant recall the last time I felt the pedal shudder whilst driving either. See the traction control light flashing quiet often in the car Smile

Great deal of the accidents involving bikes are situations in which wheels have been lost under braking, and it's particularly common in the fresh to bikes/scooters accident demographic of about 17-25, which covers about 60% of the accident population (might be interesting to know only about 25% of motorcycle accidents are due to other vehicles). They're basically arguing that ABS should be compulsory on bikes to stop these guys from having these type of beginner accidents.


Long as they don't force it to be retrospectively fitted I don't care, I'd certainly not refuse to buy a new bike with ABS fitted, the vast majority of the newer systems coming too fall short pretty much only of professional racers, and I'm sure as hell not good enough to notice any possible deficits there!

I have nothing against it and agree with the points made above.

Whoever set up that petition needs to do a bit more research next time.

I have both traction control and abs......it does not mean you forget how ride  Wink
I don't mind technology that only kicks in a emergency , prefer abs to dual linked brakes

Would not have added it as cost option but it didnt put me off buying my ZZR
Caused a couple of mates to shake their heads on a wet ride out because I was spinning the back up to understand what the different traction control levels did  :evil

Can you shed any light on how I go about bleeding my abs brakes if I buy braided hoses?
