So, ... how much is a new battery then ?
#1
Finally admitted defeat and decided to get a new battery.

Darned thing has been on (trickle) charge for 3 weeks and all I get is clicks from the solenoid (?).

It was showing 12.7V with no draw and 12.2V with the ignition on. Hitting the start button took it down to about 4V and then it was down to 11.7V.

Could it be anything else ?

Where's the best place to get a battery and what should I expect to pay ?

TIA, DBo.

Got the same problem atm, new solenoid, new battery and still just clicking although it has started a few times. Checked all visible connectors. Be interesting to see if a new battery sorts yours out, if not we may have the same problem.

Motobat seems to be the weapon of choice right now.
Love mine, hasn't missed a beat so far and has a much better cca than the varta or Rob H I used before.

The battery with the best CCA for the Fazer 1000 is Yuasa but a little more expensive than Motobat

Motobatt it is then.

Most places seemed to be about £54 but one eBay seller at £42.50 has an order. :-)

Let's hope it goes better than my last eBay transaction. :-(

Thanks, DBo.

Duly got my comeuppance. Didn't read the ad properly and took delivery of a Numax battery. Fair enough the company have agreed to take it back and refund but the only people that have benefitted are the couriers. (Same bloke picked it up that dropped it off).

The eBay ad had a clear picture of a Numax box but as I had searched for Motobatt and that was in the title I just hit 'Buy' like a div.

Motobatt on order.

that is the one I got for my bike, it was about £65, the shop I bought it from had a varta but the terminals were only M5 not M6 which the fazer uses

Well the nice people returned my money (after I sent back the battery) and the new Motobatt has turned up. Just need a working knee and I can go fit it.

I'll stick it on charge overnight first.

...did that. Touch concerned I was only getting 12.8V (12.5 out of the box).

Fitted it. Winced as I hit the starter expecting the click of death ... but no she fired up like a little gem.

Hurrah!

Soon as my knee bends to 90 degrees I can take it out.

DBo.
