since we seem to have moved more into the rock genre, and guitarists - I feel it only right this fellow gets a mention:
STEVE VAI - FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HD [720p]

The man has real talent and is blessed with the longest fingers I have ever seen

Perhaps Paul Gilbert's may be slightly longer, he also has a good 7 note stretch that requires big fingers and excellent dexterity. But agreed, finger length is up there.
This has proven a cracking thread, already found a few guys out I hadn't heard of!
His first solo album Passion and warfare that the Love Of God is from is outstanding. Also check out Cross Roads the movie as he is the devils axe man taking on a blues player.

Tip acknowledged! :thumbup
Christo and I were having a good little natter about music over a cuppa today, I think he'll be adding to my celtic acoustic collection soon. I think he was impressed with Peppino D'Agostino - "Is that one guy playing that?!"

Remember how I was telling you about the Ramoneurs de Menhir?
Feeling brave? :evil
Here we go. Punk celtic music. Approach with caution. :lol
(Note - this song is easier on the ear than most of their stuff)

I saw them live, and have a funny story about the guitarist (chap far right)
The Deef's apprentice
:rollin
Not quite what I had in mind!
If it's to be punk, I think I'll stick to SLF, 999 and The Damned.
My Celtic interest is really about acoustic guitar. I do like to hear backing instruments for it, I think mandolin and/or uilean pipes work well in this form.

I warned you it was different!! :lol :lol
For pure Breton, try Nolwenn Leroy:

Or Tri Yann. Tri Yann are bigger, and have been going for yonks, but are less traditional. This one, however, is one of my favourites.

And now for something completely different (another member of the original G3 alongside Joe Satriani and Steve Vai): Yngwie Malmsteen.
Yngwie Malmsteen Acoustic Guitar Solo
thats one instrument I'd love to play but I just don't have the patience.
I did have bass lesson but all the instructor wanted to teach me is different notes etc and hardly any playing
did it for two and a half months and all I could play was herby Hancock cantelope tune and all I did was bum bum bum space then bum bum ,bum bum bum about 3 different notes but that is it. I was pretty pissed off to say the least. ok he was cheap @£17 hr.
I just wanted to play for a bit of fun..if I could play a couple of songs that was all I wanted.
so I gave my yamaha bass guitar to my son. he could play alright but mostly complicated song like led zeplins stairway to heavens on a acoustics guitar..
anyway he gave me an old applause acoustic guitar that I bought him a few years ago.it still like new but needs new strings now and I've also got a cheap fender style bass guitar with picolo strings and a tremelo . had the tremelo fitted by a local guitar maker.
start to play that and I could play a tune but bugger if I know what it was, I just made it up as I went along.
my son said that brilliant that Dad where did you get it
but try as I might I could not get any books with no's etc like you can on a normal guitar in other words dot to where you fingers on the frets.. so in the end I gave up..
If I wanted to make a life-long career out of
working with the mentally retarded I would
have opened a Harley Davidson Dealership!
with the internet at your fingertips - ultimate guitar is your friend! loads of guitar tabs to choose from Johnakay, justpick a song you would like to play and stick with it
He's missin an arm...poor chap
Just flapping about on this stagnant little pond on the outer rim of the internet.....yup.... :-))
I was with him until he sang. I have never liked his singing voice and think he fare better tallented as a :guitar Never the less he is still a living rock god but I lean more towards blues rock now days.
