For the vest / T-shirt wording, how about:
"FAZER OWNERS CLUB(S) CHARITY RUN 2013 BLOODBIKERS & AIR AMBULANCE" With maybe a pic of Frankenfazer between the lines of text? I say "clubs" as we could also do the US (I go at the end of September), asking Devilsyam to mobilise the forces there. For fundraising, maybe we could ask Farjo to set one up using the forum e-mail at the Justgiving site, or similar? An open Google map allowing people who want to join in on the wearing (olympic torch style, LOL!) to pin themselves to the map - but they must then get the shirt / notebook signed by at least one other Foccer or take it to a meet before passing it on (forces keyboard warriors out of the house!! :lol ). Then a route can be worked out. Thoughts?

I'm not too bothered about the route or how long it takes but it would be good to go far and wide as possible.
What bothers me at the moment is the 'mechanics' of collecting any contributions and getting them to the relevant bodies. Perhaps we should set the journey in motion (although the vest wording would be a problem then) and develop a plan for collection as it goes? Anyone with experience on this side of things? Just looked at the Justgiving site - looks like a good interface too! Alternatively, we do the run, the shirt & notebook are given to a pre-chosen Foccer for safe keeping (you, for instance, as the instigator!). That Foccer then starts the auction (on a forum thread, perhaps?), and the winner pays the chosen one (LOL) by Paypal. That sum then gets divvied up to the charities. The Justgiving site looks easy to use too. How about we collect for blood bikers along the road (via a justgiving page), then the auction proceeds go to the winning Foccer's local Air Ambulance branch?

I appreciate the reply....I too have just been looking at the justgiving website!
Bloodbikers also seems to be regional and I wonder how many southern foccers would give to a northern based air ambulance...or vice versa?

I still think a t shirt would be better if we are going to be signing it ( forum names ), might even need a spare !
Collection would not be a problem, put it into counties, shires, regions and ask the odd volunteer to collect then a final collection can be sorted via just giving with the person holding the money donating the amount he / she has ( witnessed by someone if they want).

or it could be done on trust....if you carry the shirt you put a minimum £5 say into your chosen charity.
I am quite happy to set two tshirts on their way and also happy to auction whatever returns here in due course. I could identify the charity that the end auction paid or let the winning bidder choose? That appears simpler.

I want to try and get things moving so tomorrow I will get a couple of shirts (white) printed based on the 'foccin about for charity' '2013 tour' text (or similar). We can then add our site names as they progress on the journey. I will include a notebook for comments etc on the way. I will leave to trust your contributions to your favoured charity and I will auction it whenever it returns.
If some really clever foccer can track it on a map that would be great. Assuming all goes to plan I will set it off on Sunday (if it's not pissing down) after getting a picture or two for the thread....anybody interested in taking it within an hour or so of Whitby? Pictures of interest/landmarks it passes would add to the interest. Please comment tonight if anyone thinks I've missed a trick. ps...I accept no blame for any unforeseen events along the way! :eek If all goes well we can try again next year.

Sorry again but my tuppence worth :- Slow down a bit if you want this to work. 1, Set up a just giving account. 2, Get a list of all participants. 3, sort out a rough route and people will know where it will be and when. 4, Get said T-shirts and away we go.
To start tomorrow and finish on Sunday is not giving it a great deal time to circulate far and wide and raise as much cash as possible. Anyone who collect money can put that sum of money into just giving in exchange for the cash they hold, all done in trust.

Loony tune ...I do appreciate your comments...I want this to work as much as anyone.
I didn't want to suggest it finished Sunday, I wanted to suggest it starts on Sunday and takes as many weeks/months as the foccers want it to take. I thought if we tried to stick to a schedule it was more likely to fail (weather/breakdowns etc). I expected it to go in whatever direction foccers were available to accept it and each recipient could use this thread to find their next meet/handover. Sorry if that wasn't clear. I do want to hear what foccers views are.

Sounds like a plan to me.
:thumbup We did something similar a good few years back raising funds for Barnardos shops, doing a relay with a wee GPS based gubbins. Made for some interesting ride outs and some slightly dubious photos. ![]() Was also a good way to get folks to meet up, talk pish and put faces to names. Although knowing some of you Foccers the faces thing may not be so good. :pokefun |
