I had the exact same thing with mine last year, started with a ticking then went to the same noise. I thought it was something in the chamber and was rattling around as the piston was hitting it.
Took the plug out and the manifold off. Made an attachment for the hoover that went in the plug thread and blew through with an air line at same time.
Seemed to be quieter after that only for the bottom end to let go a few days laterĀ  :eek
I would sort it out before you go riding about on it

Still no reply from @markaboot, he has not been on forum for more than a month.I've searched over net and found this
cam chain rattle
It really sounds like that cam chain guide(intake side) is making that noise when vibrating. How to check it or replace it? As found over the web , manual tensioner will not make things better!
Any advice?

The PM you sent would go to his personal email address so maybe he's just on holiday or something?

I was looking at his posts on here and although he made quite a few he never really got to the bottom of the issue, not on here anyway?

Try putting a screwdriver against different parts of the engine and against your ear and see if you can isolate where the noise is coming from

Not while you're riding though.

I've isolated the noise. It's definitely coming from the screw driver

Finally- diagnose Sad
Chain is unevenly stretched and needs replacement. Is there any way to replace it without opening entire engine, removing crankshaft?

Yes, if you buy a split chain and rivet it.

Hi rus, how did you diagnose it as uneven stretching out of interest? Any luck replacing it yet?
