decided to fit my r6 shock and give the linkage a service

and I got a bit of a shock

and the collar was also a bit past it

thankfully the other bearings look ok so I will give them a good clean and fresh grease, I bought the bike like this and have gradually been fixing things as and when I have time and the money, problem is do I risk getting a second hand part?

Clean it up before you go spending cash. See how worn/groved it is.
Though fairly cheap on evilbay.

The slightest bit of wear on any of those linkage bearings and collars contributes to the overall freeplay in the linkage and is often the cause of MOT advisories or fails.  Yours is obviously toast.

If by 'getting a second hand part' you mean buying a complete linkage with bearings and collars etc off a breaker or ebay, you might get lucky.  Then again, you might buy a worn unit and be in much the same place as you are now.

I'm guessing you want to sort this cheap as possible, in which case I'd be more inclined to replace all the bearings (not expensive from BikeBearings.co.uk), salvage the seals and two original collars and buy a new collar (only available from Yamaha).

I have not done a lot of miles and there was no advisory at all with the suspension linkage, what is annoying is that in other areas there was signs of the bike being looked after, yet in this area the bike was not along with the exup which I fixed last year

Yep I have one but needs good clean and the inner pins I have yet to find will look again its free just cover postage

well I now have a reconditioned arm to go on tomorrow, what a ball ache was the bearing on one of them to move, the arm was heated in an oven for over half an hour and eventually using a socket and a lump hammer it moved, after breaking my work bench!! the replacement bearings just dropped in, despite my bike having 71k miles on it, it still had the original bearings, thanks to devilsyam I have a working bike, well I will tomorrow when I bolt everything together and set up the rear shock
