I hadn't planned on going for a spin today but the weather tempted me. Bye, bye, wife. Hello Nant y Garth pass, Ruthin, Denbigh, St Asaph, Rhuddlan. Stopped at the Whistlestop cafe for dinner, then called at Woods in Abergele, had a natter with a few bikers in the parking area. Onwards to Colwyn Bay promenade for a cup of coffee, then to Betws yn Rhos.Llanfair Talhaiarn, Llansannan ( chippings, beware ! ), Bylchau, Llyn Brenig, CerrigyDrudion ( chippings again ! ), Ruthin, Nant y Garth, home. 113 very enjoyable miles, saw lots of bikers, and heavy traffic heading coastwards.
Hope to be out again tomorrow with my mate Trev. Going to be hot.
Popped out to book it in for its MOT... which could be fun (next week) and then accidentally ended up going for a ride and getting a little lost, still was good fun
rode to work and back....42 miles "A" roads.....recently put suspension back to factory settings and bike rides really well, scuffed the side of me boots a couple of times
However, when I got back home, I noticed the feed line for the scotoiler had come looses and was hanging down.
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - strawberries in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming - WOO HOO! What a Ride!"
Taped up my fairing after busting the bracket to the frame :o .
Then went out for a 260 mile spin with my old man on our :faz s.
Went Perth,Blairgowrie,Glenshee,Braemar,Linn of Dee,the excellently named Cock Bridge,Tomintoul,The Lecht,Aviemore,Pitlochry & home.
Some splendid twisties, got my boots scraped for the first time, tyres got a good melting & the weather was great un ,the old fazer still has some legs, was able to hold a line better than my dads fz6 that tended to run wider on corners.
Looking forward to a west coast blast on Monday 8)
Easiest way to go fast........don't buy a blue bike
Went on a Ride out with some other members of the Solent Advanced Motorcyclists around various parts of the south of England.
It was great fun with lots of twisty bits, just a shame that the A342 was closed so we had to divert via the A303 dual carriageway which was really boring, but still, at least I saw Stonehenge with my own eyes (in passing!)
It got a little nerve wracking at the end, the guy leading it said it would be about 150 miles and I'd ridden 30 to get to the start point (Ower services off the M27) , so I thought I'd be ok on fuel, but then because of the diversion and him changing the route a bit, I was almost down on Reserve and we were around the Thruxton area!
Fortunately, now I've got the Power Commander with the Dual Map option, I was switching between the basic Zero Map and the "fun map" for a boost of power when I needed it and it's actually improved the FZ6's fuel economy because I used to get 175 miles from a full tank to reserve, but now I get 190 which was enough to get me back to the start point without running on vapour...
New brake pads Ferodo sintered front/ platinum backs.
Removed and greased all rear shock linkages,
Replaced rear wheel,
Swapped front master cylinder for T'cat one, along with T'cat clip on handlebars,
Cleaned and lubed chain,
Adjusted throttle cable free play.
All ready for bedford autodrome on Monday, but more importantly ready for the lofo ride out tomorrow!
