Missed delivery of my new can today. Bugger. That means I won't get time to pick it up til Wednesday, so can't fit it till next weekend now.
Ordered in fairing inner panel damper strips - went to collect them today and they'd only got six in (thought there should be at least ten). So also got to put up with annoying buzz until at least Weds too.
So I thought, sod it, I'm off to burger wagon at Hein Gericke on the A40 for lunch. A40 blocked by car smash up! Fortunately, didn't have to wait too long for police to allow traffic to start slowly filtering through. One of those days, should have stayed in bed :'(
Filled up with Shell V-Power today, having just run a fuel system treatment through the tank to try to cure stuttering on over-run at about 3k rpm. Still not cured so more serious measures required, but I'd forgotten how the ol' V-Power improves general running on the Gen 1s. Definite improvement noticed.
Still not ready to take it in for full set up and Ivans while the weather's so good though. I can live with it for a while longer...
Met my mate Trev in Cerrigydrudion, then Pentrevoelas-Llanrwst-Conway-Sychnant Pass-Bangor. Spent a couple of hours on the pier, taking in the views, eating the homemade scones and drinking coffee. Returned via Conway-Colwyn Bay-Betws yn Rhos-St Asaph-Denbigh- Ruthin-Wrexham. 145 miles. Traffic not heavy at all in spite of the glorious sunshine.

I have had my Fazer for about a year now and this week I thought I had an oil leak. I took a closer look today and it looked like it had seven years of old chain lube caked behind the front sprocket cover. I took me over half an hour to pick it all out
Fitted second set of front wheel bearings as the ones I fitted yesterday broke up after 6 miles. Don't use KOYO bearings
they are shit,
Got them from a main dealer at a cost of £17, but how do you prove they are shit when you fitted them youself, they'll just say you focced them then you fitted them.
Got SKF bearings from agricultural parts firm today For £12 and fitted them using exactly same methods I used for the KOYO ones and they are running sweet :-)
Rode about 6 miles started getting rumbling feeling from the front, just as I was starting to crank her up a bit
Nursed it home.
Front right completely broken up, 5 balls left intact, left hand side still in one piece but rough when rotated.
Originally only the right hand side had completely broken up and the left was still smooth, but I replaced them both with the KOYO ones because that's the way I was trained
Took the original one that was still good to the Agricultural parts place today and he matched it for me and that's how I have SKF bearings now.
Left it in the garage cos it was rainin' this morning :lol
BUT...got home tonight to find the Scorpion can had turned up...seems to me it's as light as the titanium Akra I had on my first Gen 1. Day off tomorrow, so that'll be going on
This means that the parcel I missed on Saturday must be the rad guard, which I'll also pick up tomorrow...double result!
Downside...sh*te weather forecast for tomorrow (on my day off - again :'( ) so no fun checking it out which I wanted to do to make sure it doesn't aggravate this damn stutter it's got.
So, I've had the bike, what, 3 weeks now, and bottomless pit syndrome is well established already. What little money that doesn't go on the bike itself goes in the fuel tank and out the exhaust.
Eat? Foc, no, what do I need to do that for...(rice & beans diet again - keep your distance! :moon )
Fitted my trimmed sub throttle plates I made yesterday and blocked off the ais system. Two custom maps loaded onto the TB juicebox, and its now pissing it down! :-(
Got work in an hour, oh well, it'll wait till tomorrow for the test ride >:-)
