Hi all,
Do you think that a pair of PR3 fitted and balanced for £255 is a good deal or not, am a bit out of touch with prices etc also do they last or wear quickly, thinking of them for a summer tour so need somethiing good in the wet!!
Tommo
Yes, good price for a ride in/ride out service.. don't know about how long they last mide but they are great in the wet.

Mine have been on for 5k and the rear looks like lasting another 1k. Considering I only got 4.5k out of a rear Dunlop Roadsmart I'd call that pretty good mileage.
Price seems reasonable as well, I was quoted £145 for a rear fitted on a loose wheel.
Blessed are the cracked, for they let in the light.
I payed about £240 for my P3's to be fitted to loose wheels..
08 Graphite Grey FZ1 ABS..

I have just bought a tyre ( PR3 trail rear) off a net supplier for £106 delivered. I then pay £12 for a fit to a loose wheel. But for a full ride in ride out service at local tyre dealer its £150 for just the rear...!!
On the GS its 5 small bolts and the wheel comes off the single side arm= £32 savings for maybe 10 minutes work !
Longevity wise I have bought this rear cos after just 2k miles the rear has 3.5mm tread left in the middle. I cant recall what the tread depth was new...normally rears are 6mm on 023s for example. As I am doing at least 2000 miles on a euro tour in 3 wks time, I have bought this as a safety net, and If indeed the rear has worn excessively then I will change it over.
Wet weather performance is the best I have ever known, and dry performance seems as good as others, so at this stage for the GS its a great tyre choice. For my fazer I am undecided due to the much larger rear wheel bhp...023 and roadsmarts have been outstanding and up to 5k mileage on the fazer, so I will reserve judgement .But the GS does put its larger torque down a lot harderand punchier than the fazer , so who knows the fazer could wear better. When I had my 1050 speedy that just ate rears, even though its less bhp than the fazer.
Thats a good deal in anybodys books.

:agree
Got mine a little cheaper, ride in ride out, but I know them well
Better to stand and look a fool than speak and prove it !
If it aint broke, I'll fix it till it is !!
I paid 149 for PR3 on loose rear, been quoted 110 for ride in ride out on front.
I'd take that for ride in ride out.

One of our group failed to check his tyres before leaving on our recent Euro tour, so we ended up going tyre shopping in Italy.
After trying a few places we found a very helpful chap who didn't have one in stock himself, but who spent a good 30 minutes or so ringing round other dealers trying to find us one.
And then when he did he even led us there on his bike! Very kind of him, top bloke.
But then it took 3 Italian mechanics no less than 3 hours to fit 2 new tyres. Mostly they just sat around looking at it???
Makes the £15 I pay for ride in ride out service at my local place look pretty good! Takes minutes!
There's never a reason to hurry in Italy (or even some parts of France)
makes you wonder how they managed to make cars that go so fast!!
theres the new t30 from bridgstone to look at and also the new pirelli angel "GT" dont confuse it with the ST version all suppose to last longer with more tyre patch on the road
