Balanced my carbs today and done my valves. I have 2 Fazers but this was my 56k 2003 Foxeye one. I adjusted a couple of valves. Do you think it sounds ok? I guess every engine sounds different ha?
Engine Noise Fazer
They all sound a bit odd on audio. Does it sound a bit rough in the flesh? If not, then just ride it!

No, i wasn't!
It's not bad at all, but i can hear it a bit.
The tickover seems a little fast to me so it's difficult to distinguish it.
My bike has a rattle on cold start up but does totally disappear after about 5mins of warming up, but my tickover is slower than what your bike sounds like, around 1200rpm, and i have a deep sounding Quill race can on so they almost sound like different bikes!

My Tickover is only at 1200 I have the digital carb gauges that give idle speed aswell. The noise I can hear is quite on cold start and more noisy when engine is hot. But then my other fazer has done only 4500miles and that had more rattle to it... I think every engine is different

Yeah, i've just listened to a video of mine, not too much in it really i s'pose.
You've certainly not got anything bad sounding going on anyway.

Sounds like its running well to me - I can hear a very very slight cam chain noise, but that's hardly surprising for a Fazer

If you ever have noises you don't wanna hear, get one of these, the end can i just took off and changed for the Quill.
Rattles and squeaks aren't heard, and everyone seems to make you feel welcome by looking at you when you ride towards them. :lol
Yamaha FZS600 with SP Engineering Moto GP exhaust can

So do fazer all have this slight cam chain noise? I had a drz once brand new and it rattled to fook even the top suzuki mechanic said it was normal. The rattle on gazers don't sound bad

It does appear to be characteristic with Fazers, as i said i still get a rattle when the oil is cold but it soon goes away, but i had the chain replaced 8000 miles ago so i know it's okay.

I guess anything mechanical is going to make a noise

Basically yeah, it's also how much you personally read into things as well.
Before i had the cam chain changed the noise would drive me mad, whereas it simply wouldn't bother other people!
Plus you can hear by the 3 videos how exhaust tones can dampen noises as well.
I was never a fan of the whining gearbox which is primarily why i changed exhausts in the first place.

But when u had it changed did it still make a noise? My other other one has 4500miles that's got a slight noise.
@gerkin it is loud and sounds wicked when you're just pottering around streets on short journeys or giving it a blast, BUT, once you get onto a motorway i found it to be like having a thousand angry bee's in your crash helmet.
It sounded even nicer when i removed the baffle when i first fitted it, but that would make it louder still and also illegal.
The above video is with the baffle in!!

Only when cold for around 5mins, then the noise totally goes away.
There's a poll on the forum about what mileage people changed the cam chain and the results are very varied.
