Rad Hoses

Just 50/50 coolant/water.
I much prefer premixed but if you wanna mix it yourself do it properly and use distilled water.
Halfords do have it but i've no doubt petrol garages will have it too.

As well as flushing the rad you could plug the ends and stick it in the bath and let it soak. Sounds funny but I've found it to be the best way to clean the fins without damaging them

The stuff that's in my bike at the moment came from Halfords - I think its Orange?

First though, I think I have a coolant leak so need to solve that before changing the hoses over and ideally I need it to warm up, or for my damn garage to finally be finished  :rolleyes

Well when the bike starts, coolant leaks from drainage hole in the fins and appears to be coming from somewhere above and dripping on to the plugs...

Keep forgetting to check it when I get back from a ride

Had the same problem. Turned out that the problem was the big o ring in the thermostat housing where the metal part joins to the rubber part. Try running your finger under where it joins and I'd say there will be a bit of coolant. I ended up getting a used thermostat.

Probably just condensation due to engine heat and cold weather finding its way down to the spark plug area.
You get all sorts of unknown leakages once the bike cools down at night.

Jubilee clips can come loose over time too.

One little tip, water leaks are easier to check in the dark with a torch

Its definitely coolant since condensation isn't usually luminous orange

I think it may be the thermostat housing as suggested. I just haven't gotten round to looking at it properly yet

Hope you manage to get the problem sorted though  8)  Will be good for all of us replacing the pipes to have a good look about our coolant systems and get to know them a bit better. As mentioned before, they are a commonly over looked part of DIY maintenance.
