Hi,
I am wondering if someone can help.I am going to replace my airfilter with K&N on my fazer 600 2001
.I had the fuel tank off today but was unsure what to do next.I am a novice,so any help would be much appreciated
Take seat off, take tank off, take the side panels off, pull the rubber flap off its securing posts, pull rubber flap toward the front of the bike, undo the 4 screws on top of airbox, take off the top of the airbox and remove the old air filter. fit new k&N (it will be a very tight fit so try and fit without crushing it), refit everything & go for a ride!

Done mine last weekend wasn't too bad the rubber flap threw me abit but just take the side covers off and un 'clip' the rubber then its should fold out with abit of fiddling,
On a side note I fitted mine then my old man questioned if I had oiled it? Does it need to be? Or is it just when it's serviced it needs oiling for cleaning?

If you bought it new, then no worries. It's supposed to be pre-oiled when new and if I remember correctly the service interval for road use is something like 50 000 miles.

Ive got one coming in the post but it's the oval shaped kinda cone type rather than a flat filter sheet,high flow i believe,k&n,is this the one yous are on about or is the one ive ordered gonna be a right pain in the arse?
I havent even taken a look under the tank yet but i had kinda thought that the box gubbings would go and the new filter would bolt on to the top of the carbs but im just thinking about an old car i had ages ago.
Just looked at the description & it says it's just a drop in job inside the box so im thinking this is prob the same type as yous have.
Any help appreciated.

Soon time to start getting aquainted with my fazer, K&N to go on, soon to have some nice Blue radiator hoses made up, a few aluminium bolts from the ever expensive pro - bolt.
Feeling like doing my own service this year thanks to the help & encouragement on here.
& maybe just maybe i'll actually ride the thing!!!! :eek

Haha, ye, I've spent more time in the last year fannying about in the garage working on the bike than riding it! Once it's all back together then that's it for the year! K and N filter will be no bother, you'll get it in fine. Just take your time over doing jobs like that and it's no problem 8)

Really? Mine did on my red Fazer - it was snug but offered no argument

My K&N went in with no issues at all, they even give you some stickers for your pencil case! 8)
Yeah, gotta agree, mine was a perfect fit and went straight in without any grief at all.
The Hi-Flo i had in before that was flapping about in comparison, about 5mm of movement.

Mine dropped in with no probs, getting the focing rubber thing off that covers the air box lid gave me some grief :'( wd40 to get it off red rubber grease to get it on again

Yeah, the rubber cover is always a bit of a pain but so far brute force has served me well
