hmm thats a good one, dont think I can have a new style plate though, as its a Y reg Sad

y plate is march- august 2001 so MY 01 FZS.  its the new style and incorporates the yr ur bike was first registered. it will be allowed.try typin it into the licence plate website and it prob cost u  6-800 quid.
[/quote]The DVLA site goes from 51.  Are you sure about this?

I was just about to mention this! 51 (sept 2001) was when new plates came in

I remember when i had just bought my F650 and my bro had new car with a "personalised" plate P444PKR and was bragging bout it. I pointed out my reg N608ARB was a personalised , he said whats different bout that.... I just said well my bike only vehicle with that number on it!!! lol

My FireBlade had a postbox style number plate and i was always getting pulled. One copper followed me for 4 miles with his Blues and Two's on before i stopped, i couldn't believe it.
In the end i put the original on, £150 in fines from 3 pulls.I only fit standard plates now?

It would still be a standard size, just inventive spacing Smile

As I recall ... It's another £80.00 to pay to the DVLA every time you change your bike  Sad

£80 worth of pop would fill the average tank .. well almost  :lol

I have had a couple of bikes that lots of people want to photograph .. including Spanish & French Police .. a Special BMW R1200 c Montauk. Mark Grinnall Trike and now my 2008 Honda CB1300s HP EZS Sports Sidecar outfit .. The Spanish Dancer.

If ever the camera man is talking serious .. or the bike is in a show (I've won a couple of Best Bike awards  Smile
I carry (in the boot) a laminated card plate ABC 123 that sticks onto the real plate .. looks cool, gives nothing away and people seem to really like it  :b    End of shift .. it's all Bull Stuff Boys and Toys  :rolleyes

Stay Safe Y'all .  Trev The Polar Bear    (By the way .. ABC 123 = A Bike Conversion with 1. 2. 3 Wheels  :\ )

Imo it's not worth cocking around with spacing/font/screw caps etc.  It doesn't make it look nicer, it's still just a number plate.

Just the spacing. No buggering about with screw caps or stupid fonts they annoy me too !

Spacing is still an issue.  Mate of mine (well, his mrs) got pulled for it a while back so he went back to standard plates.

I saw a bike with the plate of A1 6UNT, the six was opened slightly, even a bike cop laughed at it. I never saw if a fine was given though?

If you like it - do it! We've got a couple in the family.

Although as Bob pointed out it's totally wrong format for a square plate so will probably attract old bills attention.

Quote "not going to spend more than £250 on it though!"  :rolleyes

Save your money + other expenses. Put it towards a newer bike/gear/anything but a plate. Waste of money. (IMO)
Something tangable, fondle etc. Wink

You can't make your bike look newer than it is with a private plate so anything Y or before is ok, anything after is a no go.
Blessed are the cracked, for they let in the light.
