And another thing...
a bit close to the car at the start of the roll on test, if it had braked sharply for whatever reason, especially as you had a clear lane to your right, which you did join eventually to over take, yes, but i refer to the bit before that.

Restriction affects different bikes in different ways; as a rule of thumb, twins (SV650 / ER6) tend to restrict better than four-cylinder machines (twins make power lower down and restricting them tends to limit the top end), fours can be "strangled" by restriction through the rev range.

IMO, you're probably better off learning to be smooth with the bike / controls / roadcraft; being smoother will naturally make you faster in time anyway.
