You can't go far wrong with that one  :thumbup  Larger Hdd (250GB in this case which is plenty) lets you install games (so they load faster), videos, demos etc.

One more thing, to play it online you'll need to get her an x box live 'gold' membership which can last from 1month to 1 year, if i remember correctly its about 50 quid for the year hence i havent updated mine since it ran out 6 months ago and i only ever played battlefield 3.

THe wireless controllers eat 2 aa batteries each too so havin one o those mini battery chargers is handy.
Easiest way to go fast........don't buy a blue bike

You could buy rechargeable battery packs think a tenner for two that plugs into the USB port at the front of The x box so you don't have to buy AA batteries all the time

Play + charge kit is good, rechargable battery for the controller and a cable to recharge it while you still use it.  12 months live membership is £25 ish.

http://xboxliveuk76.com/ is where I buy my live memberships, get the code emailed to you within a couple of hours.

if buying live memberships or Microsoft points, go to eBay and find one of the folk that sell the codes. In the high street, a membership will set you back the best part of 40 but the eBay guys do it cheaper, sometimes, I think, because of the exchange rates. Expect to pay 20-25 on eBay. 2000 Microsoft points is about 17 quid if buying through live, but the eBay code guys will ask for around a tenner.

The machine above is sound enough. the bigger the HDD is usually the better, although I have old style 120gb and I've never even been close to filling it, although, if its being used for films and movies then it would fill quite easily. The xbox reads flash drives so I just download to that and plug it in and I've usually got several demos on the system as well as around 30 games installed (mostly arcade and indie games).

if you can get a cheaper machine it will usually be cos of smaller HDD, which is fine, unless its the 6gig one. A total farce of a package by Microsoft. 6gig barely covers saves and a find of mine found it to be useless when battlefield 3 came out cos the developer released a 5gig HD patch that he couldn't install. 60gig would be plenty. I've installed full games in the past but I've never noticed that much of a difference in load times. The main thing for me doing it was because my disc motor makes a Hell of a racket, installing games does away with this and the disc only provides authorisation of the games legitimacy.

I got a 6gig one a while back then brought a 120 gig old style hd for a tenner and a new style case for 4 quid and slotted it in. Worked out a lot cheaper.
I find the 120 more than enough for my needs.
Bound to be some good bundle offers leading up to Xmas or even better the new year.

The only thing that no one has mentioned it that that pack only contains one controller, so be prepared to but another one.
I use rechargeable batteries in mine and it lasts for ages.

My only advise would be to get a bundle /package , but get one with the kenetic kit

My kids love it ! so do I to be honest just make sure you have the room first !

Best deal I could find was at currys/pcworld superstore in Cambridge
But my god I had to haggle went back three time before i finally got one ,, incuding five years cover just in case !

Yes, extended warranty may be a good call. I have a gen 2 and dropped it a couple times but still works. I'm one of the lucky ones, too many went tits up too soon and there are still some issues with the newer ones I believe

I've heard it'll be out around this time next year.  I certainly wouldn't expect it before mid 2013.

I got an add-on pack that had a controller and two older games. It was discounted to around/cheaper than the RRP of a controller cos I bought it with the console.

Check Amazon and have a look at carphonewhorehouse, they sometimes give away consoles with a phone contract.
