How many miles on a tank !!
#1
Ayup whilst coming back from the alps I filled up at dover bike on side stand I filled the tank to the top of the neck, speed was 80-90 most of the way home, this being 223 miles to my door and I had a cup full of fuel left in the tank, I had previous set up the sender to the multi gauge as it was over reading and now it's 100% bang on.

Quite impressive.

Best to date was 204 miles and refilled with 17.8 litres, which meant another 3 litres at least was in the tank still.  I'm happy.  Smile

Used to consistently return 55mpg on my Gen 1 Fazer 1000 5LV for the two years I enjoyed it, now have a Gen 2 which only does 40mpg, not happy, have written to Yamaha, but according to Fuelly this is the norm! :'(

On our recent spanish jaunt we got 220 2 up with panniers and top box before the light came on.
However we had filled up at 6am (quite cool) and after 1 hour on the road and break the tank was whistling as the fuel vapour was expanding like crazy
The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people's money!

Blimey, I just got 150 to the light (did include a high-speed test on private roads though) and a lot of messing about with the bike running and not being ridden.
I think it does about 30 on the light...

if i get 150 to the light then im out on a charity ride or slow motorway run, 120-130 to light is more like it for me.
have a good few times got the light at well under 100 miles showing.

What 'fuelly's that Grandma?  You ain't showing one here?
Not being interested in JUST  mpg, I get even more smiles to the gallon now on my Gen1 - it does everything a Gen 2 can do (and better too apprently according to some) and with about 15mpg better too!!  Cool! :lol

I had a 2003 gen 1 a couple of years ago as well. It was good,  I regretted getting rid if I am  honest and can't remember why I did.

I love my gen 2 just as much.

sorry if I offended anyone with the word just I didn't mean it to come across that way  Sad

LOL sorry for calling you grandma Baggy, my mistake.  And no offence - me?  I'm just too quick to defend the Gen1 and the 'fuelly' thingy.  With all that Fazers can do, it's cool to know my bike's not only an effective tool but efficient too - love the full fairing on your Gen2, think they look well on the Gen2 more than the Gen1.

well bike has full monty, blue flame can, ignition advancer, 2 teeth extra on rear sprocket and is allways running with a 46 ltr topbox and even though i have lost a big chunk of wieght i am still 20st so close to allways 2 up.
add in to that i allways ride to have fun even when commuting thats why i get those figures
though i do tend to surf the tourqe so its rare i go over 6-7k revs, but its allways full throtle to get there.

as my local dealer jokes each time it go's in for work "do you want me to swap the throtle for a switch yet" as its allways ON or OFF  :lol

but im fairly happy with about 40mpg on a 1 ltr bike thats heavy and fast
if i really wanted better fuel mpg i would ride a 600 or a 400 moped

Today, 193 miles till yellow light (usually 180-185 miles) and 217 miles until I filled up. Bizarrely it took only 17.8 litres to brim, I expected it to take a fair bit more fuel than that. Not compaining tho.

Full monty
Standard zorst can
Pipercross filter
Pr2 tyres
Iridium plugs
Always use BP fuel.

Now you see Phil, I reckon you could have beat my record of 256.2 miles to a tank if you had kept going. Sounds like there was plenty still left in the tank. Ghostbiker, I think that just about explains it nicely. Had visions of you tearing around like a maniac all the time. :eek Oh, hang on a minute....You do ! :lol

I was beginning to think there was something seriously wrong with my bike. Only get in the 150's with motorway riding if it's raining otherwise I'm happy with anything above 100 miles before the light comes on.

In the process of returning to the UK just done 2 trips of 182 and 176 miles between fill ups, first one took 14 litres the second 13 so close to 59mpg, dull as shite though as having to stay behind others with smaller tanks and less twisty wrists!! Nearly all dual lane roads and a lot of it in the rain, bike looks bloody awful at the mo Sad

something else i just noticed when looking at my fuelly is most of my fill up are 14-15 ltrs and thats light on when i fill up. i am thinking that my light might be comming on a lot earlyer than some on here.
