Removed CCT, now have oil leak!!!

So your meant to replace the gasket when you remove the CCT!! Thought I'd try and get away without replacing it and guess what, gotta take it all off again!!
Words of advice, if you remove the CCT replace the gasket!
DOH!

try adding a small bit of instant gasket over the old gasket if you're stuck

I took it all off the other night again and replaced the gasket with instant gasket and got a new cooper washer. I haven't run it yet but it should of cured the leak. I'm still stuck with a noisey cam chain when cold, and its been noisey ever since i got it 3 years ago.
Thought i'd spend some tlc on it and check the tensioner. Just didn't realise i was going to end up doing the job twice!!

Cheers for the advice tho.

Chain needs changing, the noise won't go away........they 'average' the 30k mark......

I would of thought that as well as the bike is just on 30k. But the problem has been there ever since 21k when i first owned the bike.
If it becomes noisey when hot i might have to look at getting changed.

how many notches were left on the tensioner?

There was about 3 or 4 notches left.

But i'm very happy now, just been out for a test spin, and started it up and all quiet!! Took it for a spin, no oil leak and engine sounding very smooth.

What did i do differently this time, i fitted the CCT back in but left the centre bolt out and used a small screw driver and made sure the plunger had pushed up against the chain. Refitted the centre bolt with a new copper washer and all is quiet!
All I can assume is I have moved it onto the next notch on the CCT.

I will see if it last's but have put up with this rattle since the day i brought it, so pleased its now gone away.
