The boxeye will be an expensive choice if he works in, or needs to travel through, the ultra low emissions zone.

Yup true - needs to be 2008 registered or later i think
Those are my principles...if you don't like them I have others.

Yeah, needs to be Euro3 or better (generally 2007+, e.g. FZ6 S2) to enter current congestion charge zone from April 2019 - otherwise a £12/day fee.
This zone will extend to area within North/South circulars from 2021. That said, if he's not travelling that far into the centre, and older FZS600 would definitely be a good choice. I have an old 2003 Foxeye Fazer which I'll be looking to sell very shortly. Slightly tatty, but well maintained and runs well, with 64K on it, MOT until July. Better than an older Boxeye - bigger 21ltr tank / 230 mile range, better mirrors, better lights, front fork preload adjusters etc. I'm East London based. I was just gonna give it a 6k service and clean it up before flogging.

From next April it's only the centre of London - the existing Congestion Charge area - City and West End.

Fair, or not fair ?
We out in the country know nothing of a congestion charge, My mate in his old mitsushi payer took his wife into London on a Friday and came home on Sunday night, He got an invoice for entering a congestion emissions zone twice, at £250.00 per trip, yep £500.00 for the weekend. We never got any notice of this low emissions zone, no letters ,nothing. This must happen to thousands of innocent drivers,,bad shit really.

oh come on willy. its only fair we should pay for sadiq khans nights out, helps keep his mind off those irritating stabbings that have become daily "nuisances" since he started his watch..
The Congestion and Emissions zones are two different things. The (current) emissions zone only covers HGVs, large vans, minibuses etc . What was he driving??!!
Oh and the inner congestion zone is only £11.50 and doesn't apply at weekends

Regarding the LEZ,an old 4x4 or pickup would pay £100 a day to enter the zone although all main road entry points have warning signs, the same as for the congestion charge, which, as already said, is £11.50 per day Mon-Fri between 07:00 and 18:00.
That was the reason I sold my motorhome, nothing wrong with it but didn't conform. Near me there's a set of traffic lights on a crossroads. Turn right onto the A23 and you're ok. Turn left, and that's 100/200 quid, depending on what you're driving if it's old. And it's only going to get worse, and could be coming to a town near you. :eek

Cars are exempt from the emissions zone, so most 4x4 should be OK. However, if you've appeared in Monster Trucks.... :lol

Their(LEZ) website does mention 4x4 light utility vehicles, whatever one of those is. I presume the vehicle Slimwilly was referring to was a Mitsubishi Pajero which is maybe what a light utility vehicle is. An expensive weekend for sure.

Perhaps he could have driven in on one of Boris' expensive water cannons. They'd been converted to be LEZ compliant. O no wait a minute. You could then have stuffed the £300k wasted of taxpayers money up Boris' arse :lol
