MOT regs
#1
I may be returning to live in the UK in the new year. Question Will I be able to have my bike registered on British plates and will it pass an MOT if the speedometer (Digital readout)is only in KPH. Unlike UK spec bikes which you can change from MPH to KPH at the push of a button EU spec bikes do not have this facility.

You could buy a speedohealer, that has the ability to change any digital speedo between mph and kph

I think it's a legal requirement to have a speedo in MPH for an MOT, not an issue for "visiting" vehicles though.

Your headlight will need a corrector lens to dip to the left too

I don't think it'll fail if it only shows kmh, some bikes sold new (some chinese ones, some of the cheaper italian scooters) only show klicks and they get approved for sale.

As said above the headlight might need to be sorted.

Okay, slightly different info here, from an obvious horse racing fan.

It think the mph on the speedo part is only for SVA tests. The MOT's don't care.

I'm pretty sure you can get away with sticking numbers for the mph on top of you speedo. I used to have a French moped that had had this done.

On the cage mot site I can change from MPH to KPH at the click of a button, it would be the same for bikes, had a look on the inspection manual but no word in it for either format so can't see it being a problem.

If you worried about falling off your bike, you'd never get on.
