Where to tape up head lights for riding in the EU?
#1
Hi All,

so off to Spain in a couple of weeks and need to tape up the head light for riding on the right. Does anyone have a template for where I need to tape it up / pictures of where you tape up before I resort to waiting for it to go dark and covering a light at a time and shining it on the garage door?

Gen 1 thou.

cheers

if you really really really want to do this (most people don't), just park against a wall and work out what part of the DIPPED lens you need to cover using your hand to stop any light "kicking" up on the left hand side of the beam.

Once you have worked it out, use a bit of black insulating tape to cover that part up.

yup that's plan B (i.e. shine a light at the garage door, insulating tape) but if someone had already done it it would give me a good starting point.

This won't be the answer you're looking for, but in the best part of the last 30 years of riding a fair bit on the continent, mainly to race tracks, I've never come across anyone bothering doing  this.

I was ticketed in Spain a good few years back so the the cost / bother of some tape I do it now.

Markie,
In that case fair play, but you must have been very unlucky. The only problem I ever had in Spain was getting stopped for flashing oncoming traffic to warn of a speed trap. Unbeknown to me another unit was stationed further down the road after the speed trap to nick people who warned the oncoming traffic. Playing mega dumb(which came easy) they eventually let me go, no doubt hell bent on nicking the next bike to come along. Maybe it was you. Lol.
Have a good trip, ride safe.

I know you have to have the GB sticker - apparently that's a fave nick over there. Got a new number plate with GB/EU made up when I took my gen 1 over to Spain.

Mesh airflow jacket. That'd be the one thing I would do differently if I went again.

Not a great photo, but here's what I taped up for reference.

I didn't realise both were lit on dipped beam.
