Renthal Bars
#1
Hi,

Ordered some renthals for my FZS 1000, dissembled the stock bars but have one issue, the switchgear which when I removed off the handlebars obviously has a manual choke, completely forgot and it just flew out, I'm having difficulty figuring out how to reassemble it, which sounds basic I know but if anyone has any images etc it would be much appreciated!

There are some good pictures on Pats site , if you look under lubing control cables , there are good pictures of the choke assembly

remember you have to drill the renthals to fit the switch gear
The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people's money!

I trimmed the pin on mine so I didn't have to drill the bars;
Pro's: With new bars it can take time to find the ideal position for the bars and switchgear, you'd be lucky not to end up with more than one drill hole weakening the bars.
Con's: The switchgear can be moved out of place if you put enough force on it but this doesn't happen in everyday use.

I took mine to a local engineering firm and got them to tap out the bars so they took the OEM bar ends, cost £10 which is well worth it as I didn't like the look, feel, or weight of the plug in types that you have to use otherwise.

If you don't drill them a bit of Gaffer tape around the bars helps prevent slipping.
