FZS1000 (Gen1) list of year on year spec changes?
#1
As on the old Fazer site which listed all the year on year detail spec changes for the 1998-2003 FZS600 - does anyone know if there is (and where) there's a similar list for the FZS1000 (02-05, Gen1) either on the old Fazer site or this current site?
Cheers

2003> dark grey frame and tuning fork logo on tank, lights on all the time, minute change to needle settings on carbs, speedo now has all the MPH on it and that's about it because God looked at the FZS1000 and said:

'don't fuck with it Yamaha, it's perfect!'

Thanks ste131 that's good.

For the '03 model year change were the pillion peg sizes changed? As Givi only sell (PL349) pannier frames which are listed for post '03 Thou's. So am I right to assume those pannier frames won't fit the (very first) Dec 2000 model? Can anyone put me straight on that?

Also Wikipedia (for what its worth) states that the Thou in its 2004-2005 final year model run lost 1Kg in weight down from 231Kg to 230Kg wet weight so what was changed on the bike so that 1Kg could be lost?

And I never heard before that 2003-on bikes had the headlights permanently switched on......can anyone else verify that?

Have a look on www.cmsnl.com and look up the part numbers for the hangers. Any difference it will have a different part number.

Pre-2003 the lights were switchable.  After that they went to permanently on.

There's no reason why the 04-05 model should have lost one kilo in weight.  If anything, it should have gained weight because the final year of production included a small cataclysmic diverter in the exhaust.

.....cheers RMT1983.....Though that directs me to Givi customer services to try to find out if the 2002 bike is incorporated in their described 2003-on PL349 pannier frames. But Givi Customer services are a waste of time.

.....ste131...Yup cheers. 'cms' has the Netherlands at the foot of their web page....but I'm on about UK bikes...I'm sure it makes no difference but at any rate I cross checked it on AJ Sutton schemic diagrams which seemed to confirm pillion hangers were the same size from 2001-2005.

"Pre-2003 the lights were switchable.  After that they went to permanently on"(Falcon269).....Yup cheers...also I found out that the wiring inside the switch remains in place whilst the pre-2003 switch is simply blanked off on post-2003 bikes.

And indeed what you said must be right so as I said it must have been a Wikipedia 'variable' with their information source.
Apparently the date of birth of the founder of Wikipedia is incorrectly listed on Wikipedia's own page about him....so I heard.
