Cam Cover Gasket?
#1
Hi,

Me again, so having booked in the bike to do the valve clearances as well as the carb rubbers, I've been advised I'll also need to change the Cam Cover Gasket... Wemoto don't stock one and I'm not even sure what exactly I'm looking for (Matt at OMC advised it). Any ideas where I could get one and if someone could tell me if it's known by another name or anything, that would be great

Thanks

HJF

Gasket is rubber and should not need changing unless you damage it.
Remove it carefully and apply a little grease on reassembly.

Thanks unfazed - is this the gasket if I do? http://screencast.com/t/oHh4zGokWw

Would sit on the other side of this cover? http://screencast.com/t/YoEXJZOMCHx

The answer to your questions are

Yes

and

Yes

But it shouldn't need replacing.  Some bikes have gaskets under the cam cover made from paper/card that usually get torn or damaged when removing the cover and the advice you have been given may be from someone thinking the Fazer uses the paper type gasket and not the reusable rubber one

Thanks Jules and Unfazed Smile

What's strange is he owns the 98 model so I'd think he'd know :/

Anyway, that's good to know, thanks Smile
