Had a search but can't find one. Anyone got one they can post up? Ta.



Preferably with ported carb rubbers too.

Thanks BBB. I take it Mike did the carb rubber porting on yours too? That curve, is the first vertical (rpm) dotted line 3k? Surprised how linear it looks, and yet as you said in that thread, you feel a definite rush from around 7k, doesn't seem to be reflected on the graph.

Yes Mike did port the rubbers....not sure I understand the rest of your ramblings as it doesn't show RPM readings only hp power and speed :lol

Yeah, I wanted one with rpm really , to compare against other graphs in that format. I'm possibly disputing an argument about dyno graphs telling you all you need to know about how fast a bike will be/feel. 7k rpm on a Full Monty'd gen 1 it seems to me is a very clear change in the curve from feel, but the dyno doesn't seem to agree - just rises steadily with little if any noticeable step in the graph. I might just be misunderstanding something, and if so, would like to know why.


In actual fact, if someone has the graphs for a standard bike as well, it might help too.

Remember this is "slip on" against "full monty" and in my opinion the graph does indeed show increases in power towards the top end, and as I said this is noticeable from 7-8k rpm. When the bike was dyno'd it sits in 6th gear and is rolled on from low speed right up to approx. 160mph, therefore the graph shows the increase from 100mph upwards at around 7-8k rpm....this will be reflected going through the gears getting that top end rush in each.....and suppose if we did that test it would show in each gear too.

What the dyno charts don't tell you is how rapidly the motor accelerates between any given point in the rev range. 

So, while the graph climbs at a relatively constant rate, the motor starts to make the additional horsepower a lot quicker, if that makes sense?

In other words, it's exactly what you're saying - that feel isn't always reflected in the graphs. Smile

I should add that I always port the intake stubs and modify the airbox lid when I do a Full Monty.

Good point Mike. So what you'd really need to see what was happening, is a third axis to the graph of T=time, from opening the throttle to full, under load.

Mike, I was looking at the dyno curve you posted on FZ10A. Perfectly illustrates my point. A very linear graph, with only a slight bump at just over 7k rpm. But that wouldn't tell you what to expect when you jump on the thing and wind it open through that rev range.

So the chap I was discussing it with was going on about gearing, missing my point that the dyno curve alone wouldn't tell you what the bike would be like to ride. Which is why I don't really understand why everyone bandies them about so much when praising a bike, as he did.

Is the Kick ofa modded Gen 1 a bit like the 7k surge of a Gen2 then?....defo not subtle on the Gen2.....you hold on tighter just before the needle reaches 7.....like being on the big dipper.

Yeah, that's it Noggy. I guess the gen 2 might be slightly more so, but not a great deal I don't think*. Thing is, Bill was leaving me behind when he knocked his down a gear and I just rolled on the throttle, but not by that much, and this is where the gen 1 is stronger. But when I knocked down a gear too, there was very little in it; although I do concede that Bill's was still a little quicker. Although since improving my riding with all the Welsh trips, I now catch him on the corners, cos he still thinks they're all shaped like 50p pieces  :lol

*Edit: Although I haven't ridden a gen2, modded or otherwise, so a bit of a guess  Smile

it's all about the torq curve rather than the hp. max torq occurs just past 7k, that's why you feel it picking up, then as the torq drops off, the hp takes over, which is why a gen 2 feels so manic as it makes less torq than a gen 1 but more hp, so the bums rush feels greater.
