project tight git lighting

NOTE: THIS IS FOR MAIN BEAM ONLY
i will not be using this as a normal dip beam it will only be on when there is no other cars around to blind.

So after many methods of making the lighting better without projector lights or an expensive hid kit ive come across something that might work for cheap...


in our house we have mr16 spotlights... 12v.. see where its going
i tested the bulbs up to 18v and had no problems at all....


they are only cheap 3 led bulbs but they kick out a decent amount of light


block connectors for the 2 pins and crudely attached to a bracket from my rather pants spotlights i bought off ebay that didnt help my bike lighting...


The below is just a test to see if its actually any better before i do it again properly id rather not waste my time.


Indoor lighting but seal the bulb and itll be suitable for outside.


after testing this out for its performance if its not up to scratch i will look into a better bulb or just buy a decent set of led spots... if it works great then happy days

Took out to the beach for a test, slight failure... lighting was fairly good but its not much brighter than dip beam but has an ok distance, its a much wider beam which is nice but focused i think it would be pretty awesome.


going to see if i can fit the lot inside an old spotlight and get the beam focused a little bit for the distance.

nah its only a block connector itll take seconds to take the bulb off.

This posting is on German Ebay, but I know they have them in UK because that's where it was made!


The super cheap bulbs that come with it will do, still an improvement, but I switched in some Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited's and it was at least 200% brighter than before!


Due to Tough German road laws, I had only the main beam hooked up, but you could also wire the 'fog' bulb to your dip as it's a low and wide pattern to improve both elements of your lighting. It was an absolute godsend on my Euro trip in the dark Andorran mountains!

Took the bulbs apart and took out the main parts and shoved it into the spotlight housing.. no good...


the reflector obviously wont reflect it as its led and goes forwards from the bulb so tried empty housing and bulb but its just not good enough...
will be dimmer than dip beam so useless... really needs a purpose built reflector for the leds as the range is pants.

Not sure about those MR16 leds but you can get brighter gu 10s not sure if you can get them at 12v though. You can get gu 10s that look like yours but are only 3watt = 25watt old bulb and then you can get gu10s in 6 watt = 60watt old bulbs, maybe you could get hold of some brighter MR16s

its the LM value that you need to go by and get daylight which will look brighter too

Are leds mot legal.  Not that some foccers will care but I'm interested
