Modern Technology
#1
Fancied a ride out today. After 6 weeks  standing in an integral garage my 3 year old XJR1300 was having none of it. My 15 year old Fazer, still on original battery, started first touch of the button having stood for the same time. Neither bike has had a charger attached during standing. Spent 3 hours riding the Fazer whilst the pampered modern beast was treated to 3 hours charging just to get it going. Is modern stuff better? Classic Motorcycle Mechanics anyone?

Sounds like the XJR is going through that "terrible toddler" point in time Tongue

A mate of mine has an XJR1300 too and his suffers with this if it's not left on a trickle charger. The only reason I can think of is the 1300 is a heavier lump that takes a bit more juice to turn it over if the battery is low on charge whereas the Fazer 600 might turn over enough to just catch ???
Yamaha Fazer 'the only bike you'll ever need' maybe ???

To be fair, I found if I left my 600 for more than 2 weeks it was a pig to try and start... it's been laid up for about 5 months now so I'm fully expecting it to be absolute bitch to start

Though I know the battery is good as I stole it to power my thou as the thou battery has given up apparently :\

I left my boxeye for 4 months when I went abroad with the Army. Came back, hit the button and she fired up after 2-3 turns.
My Aprillia Futura on the other hand caught fire when I did the same a year later!
Stop polishing it and ride the bloody thing!!
