Front brakelight switch knackered
#1
Whilst checking the bike on Saturday before going for a ride I discovered that the switch on the front brake lever which triggers the brake light appears to be on the way out, sometimes it wouldn't cause the light to come on, other times it would only work as I released it.

Having looked at the Haynes manual, it seems an easy enough fix to swap it out for a new one, but has anyone else done this and had problems I should know about?

I'm not sure if there's a difference, but it was easy enough to swap on the FZS600 when mine failed a couple of months back.
The only problem was the leads to the spade connectors had corroded and one failed a week after I'd changed the switch. Then the stresses of pulling a fresh cable through the sleeving was enough to drag the connector off the other one. :'(

Hi

It's a dodle, you can get a new one on ebay and it's 30 sec to fit, 1 screw holding it on and 2 conectors

Yep, those are the people I bought mine from and I can now report that the quality is shite: mine packed up yesterday.
Despite a squirt of contact cleaner to give it a good start in life, it's rotten with corrosion and the spring has stretched.
I've managed to bodge it back to a working state, but doubt that'll last more than a few days.

Hmm, well I got a new one a month or so ago and replaced it (which was an easy job) and it's working fine at the moment.
