Christ, while I don't feel sorry for the robber surely those bullets could have gone straight through his body and hit the biker who was stood behind if the policeman wasn't careful? I don't know much about the real life power of guns and penetrative abilities except from thing's I've read / seen on TV. It was quite shocking that time on top gear when they went to Iraq and Jeremy put sand in his door sills and the guy shot a pistol bullet through. It went straight through and blew out a load of door on the other side  :eek

Well deserved.. the copper is a hero in my book, could have easily been shot himself.

As for the bullets passing through it is not likely, The human body being made of muscle, tissue and water is very different to shooting wood, metal etc. Flesh tends to absorb a lot of the impact and you end up with bullets embedded in the body and not going through. unless its a very high power gun like a hunting rifle.

Mythbusters did a very good episode on shooting into water and found majority of the force has gone by a few feet. In fact the high power .50 ripped apart on impact.
