Spoke to one of our designers today (Oxford Products) and asked what he thought of doing a range of motorcycle- specific luggage a la Pacsafe. He said he'd give it some thought (so maybe nothing will come of it), but what do you think? Worth the effort?
top boxes are quite cheap and probably more secure than soft luggage imo. Anyone that chains their gear up is advertising that it contains valuables, rather than it being locked out of sight in a 'common' top box. Most thieves look at a top box and I would assume it contains a motorcycle helmet.
It's worth a punt if you can find a justification that buyers will go for. Why not put a pro's and con's together along with a feature list and I'm sure people will be happy to provide input on your ideas.
Opinions are like A**holes, Everyone has one. Some people seem to have more than one though which is a bit odd.
I don't ever leave anything valuable on the bike, even in a top box, so there's no way I'd put anything I couldn't live without in soft luggage.
I used to put my washing in my soft panniers, so if anyone ever nicked them, well they were welcome to them!
Stop polishing it and ride the bloody thing!!
Ah, but I'm talking about soft luggage with a steel reinforcing mesh incorporated. Check out pacsafe.com to see what I mean. Also locks to the bike with a steel cable. For bikes, I'm sure it could be made waterproof, or provided with waterproof covers.
I find the idea interesting I have been tempted to buy a pacsafe bag to leave stuff with my bike when I go for a walk about at any place i have traveled too.
I think the main issue is most people know that if a thieving bastard wants to nick something he/she will, no matter what security you have attached!
I know peace of mind can help with sales for something like this but nothing is 100% secure!
Some say...
