top yoke
#1
Hi all my naked fzs1000 conversion is nearly finished however looking for advice on how best to sort the R1 2000 top yoke it looks battered and dont really want a cheap yoke protector on.

Choices I see are another R1 yoke but looking at the same year will probably be crud too or a billett/cnc yoke made to measure but as I have the fork extenders a FZ1 might also fit  :rolleyes

So peeps let someone talk me to a conclusion that looks trick but doesn't involve me begging the wife for additional funds lol  :rollin

Once this is done will upload piccies its not everyones cup of tea taking the fairing away but to me it does look the dogs danglies so far

Will the original top yoke not polish up? Nothing better than shiny alloy!

I simply sprayed mine with a coat of satin black.  It also has a real carbon yoke protector fitted, R1-specific but with holes cut by me for the bar clamps.

Cheap and cheerful ... just like me :lol

still kept clocks,  as wasnt sure if it would run ok with aftermarket clocks

cheap cheerful sounds ok but spent a lot on wheels and headlight etc so dont want to comprimise on yoke

tried polishing it up and its got too many deep scores in to look nice

Just taken my risers off today, which bit do you want measuring? The base of the riser that hits the yoke?

The diameter of the base of the riser is 32mm. There is a soft rubber `seal` that fits around the riser, and that all sits in the hole in the yoke, although it's not an interference or contact fit.
The only part of the riser that touches is the very bottom of the riser, and it rests directly on the steel lined bushing in the yoke. Hope this helps. Big Grin
