peg scrape? // jack up?
#1
Hi,
I'm loving my fazer. I've gad it since thursday and I'm happy. Bit of battery problem but that'll be soon sorted.

I was in the twisties just outside barcelona and i ride with my foot under the clutch ready to change up. Well, when I took left hand turns my shoe touched tarmarc. I did not like it.

My last bike had a sports bike riding position so that never happened to me. Does this happen to you guys? Should i change my foot's position?

If i jack it up will that cut out the problem? And taking of that if any of you fazer riders have dropped the bars or jacked the tail can you tell me what your experience has been. did the bike lean over a lot when on the side stand? Any other issues? How did affect handling? I'd be interested to know.

Cheers

Happened to me too. Your best bet is to change your foot position. Move your left foot further back on the peg so that you have the ball of your foot on the peg rather than the arch of your foot.

Happened to me before when I went in a short spin, I was testing something out at the time so I had my working steel toe boots on at the time(alot thicker then the bike boots)never realised how close the Fazer pegs do get to the road, bit of a shock when it happens at first :eek

The jack up kit helped a lot, I got it from ebay pretty cheap. I have raised the bike even bit more with an adjustable in length shock and taller wheels.

Glad to see another foccer in Spain, I am living in Madrid now.

Does it help make the bike more flickable?

Hi
I Posted these a while ago.
I have included the gear link extension info but you can just move the lever around the splines

Use the Fazer footrest bolts to hold the Brk's.
I used 8mm x 20mm cap head bolts to hold the footrests with a std washer between the Brk and the footest to give enough clearance for the head of Fazer bolts holding the Brk to the bike.

Sorry for the late answer. No, I am not on spanish forums anymore. The spanish Fazer forum is mostly about the FZ6 now. And I can improve my english on this one.

About the wheels the 120/70 and 170/60 tyres are taller than the stock ones. I fitted a TRX850 front rim -wider- to allow this.

Have you finally installed a jack up kit?

jacking up helpos but you really need to keep your foot from under the lever. The last thing you want to do if you are cranked over that far is to change ear, it will destabilise the whole bike. For spirited riding the ball of the foot can be on the peg. Race bikes, however, have a reversed gear pattern so they can change up, so their foot is on TOP of the lever and press down to go up the gear. This could be achieved on the Fazer but with your inexperience I wouldn't recommend that.
