help with new seat
#1
Hi

ive had my FZS1000 refoamed and recovered. But when its on the bike it doesn't seem to quite fit, the main problem is the gap between the tank and the front of the seat. There also seems to be a gap on the pillion part, at the side.

i dont think this is right, especially the tank gap. can i be cheeky and ask you to have a look at your seats and see how it compares?

Thanks

Looks like they've pulled the cover too tight & squashed the foam a bit much.. .  or there wasn't enough foam in the 1st place?

+1 cover pulled too tight.....use it for a while it might loosen up and close the gaps

im sure the original seat had some grey foam stuck on the front, just below the tip (so it sat between the tank and the seat)

cheeky i know....but could some one take a photo of there seat gap please? im going to contact the guy who did it Monday, if im armed with before and after photos i've got more chance of getting it sorted.

when you stand back and look at it the seat looks like its not clicked in right, except it is.

not a happy bunny  :'(

I made a seat for my FZ750 project & purposely left a "small" gap between it & the tank so it doesn't rub the paint away. I think that's what the strip of foam is for that has already been mentioned, to act as a cushion between seat & tank paint.
If you're not happy (& I wouldn't be either) then it has to go back.

JOOLS - nice one, thanks bud!!! can i ask, is that the standard seat?

i could do with a shot of the foam i was on about too.  Wink  any more photos from peeps will be much appreciated (modded or standard)

The lesson here is...if your getting your redone take shots BEFORE!!!! so if anything goes wrong you dont have to put a post up like this begging members for photos!  :o  (sorry guys)

thanks for your help

no thats fine mate, just wanted to know if it was standard or not. My point is - if the standard seat has a very small gap...then so should my modded one.

Thanks
