Hard to say, its a buyers market though plus it is winter soon. I wouldn't want to speculate on your pricing, but have you thought of removing and selling the luggage and racks separately, plus any other extras and selling the bike as standard.

Check on eBay to see what they are going for (check completed listings), don't forget these are mostly dealers selling with finance and warranty so you would need to knock £500 ish off for a private sale. Also check MCN and GumTree etc for pricing and if you are after a quick sale under cut the pricing by a few quid.

Personally I always part ex these days as I can't be bothered with all the hassle, you loose a few bob but can normally do a good deal on the new bike/kit etc, although it looks like you are giving up biking.

Good luck with the sale.

I think 5k is a starting point peeps will haggle, there is one on evil bay 07 bike with the fairings and abs 4k on the clock for £4250 buy it now being sold by trader !  I thinks wrong time of year unless its a special and the fact that a gen 2 don't sell as we'll as a gen1 so that don't help either .

Definately wrong time of year wfbroddy and price (for Scotland) is a bit steep being honest. I had my '10 Plate for sale a few weeks ago for £5500 and not a sniff. Also seen an '07 going in our neck of the woods for near on £4k.
My advice would be not to sell and hang onto it until March/April when you may get closer to your price. I know I will be  Wink

Thanks for the pointers folks, I ken its a bad time of the year to sell, but its also the time of year for the bargains  Smile

I did think about puttng it back to standard, but when you look throught the site, normally the first thing people want to do is mod there bike and its normally the stuff this beasty has, so I'd thought I'd leave it on so the new owner would have a sorted machine.

Maybe need a re-thinkof that strategy ??

You will get no more money for the bike with any of the mods still on it TBH. It would be better stripping everything off and selling seperately. Hassle I know but you will recoup some funds (the Gel seat alone is worth £100-£150 to the right person and an easy sell).
As a starting point you could sell the following without impeeding performance as most Gen 2 buyers are not looking for a full tourer (IMO)
- Givi Panniers
- Givi Top box
- Removeable pannier frames
- GEL riders seat

Found that bike but it's not got half of what mine has and more miles though similar condition, so I don't think I'm OTT on the price,

I agree though probably the wrong time of year to be moving a bike  :\

I'll look into what I need to replace the non stock rear end and a standard riders seat, see if its worth swopping the bits out.

As said its a terrible time of year to sell and apart from post New Year January blues its the best time to be a buyer. Buyers can take their pick of private sales but I wonder how many would be in the market for your bike right now 6 weeks before Xmas? Its a grand looking bike but while it may sell for £5k upwards when the days are getting warmer/lighter I dont know many right now with a wad of cash. If you cant afford to wait til Spring, you can reduce your loss by selling everything non-factory fitted-theres always a market for good gear.
Example: My own FZS 1000 bought late summer 2011 with a lot of goodies/extras.-were I to sell it now I would probably lose out to the tune of £1000. If I had to sell then I would return to standard spec & sell everything else on evilbay/whatever.
Unfortunately motorcycling has become a seasonal pastime for many riders for lots of reasons-thats why they have the shows this time of year when sales are down both dealer/retail. When its cold & wet we can dream/plan for better times ahead. Good luck & sorry your leaving the fold so to speak :'(
