Standard exhaust can
#1
I've just notice the exhaust can is blowing near the front, at the bottom. I've only had the bike a month, so can't be sure if it's always done it, or if it's only just started.

On close inspection, there are 2 small (1mm) holes, one on the front end, and one underneath. Their location suggest that they might be intentional holes, (possibly for drainage?) but I'm not sure as I have no experience in this area.

Should the holes be there?  If not, what material is the original end can? Can it be repaired, or does it need replacing?

Hi Jamie,

My standard can has the holes there too. I think they're intentional, like you say, for drainage. What happened to my can though was the link pipe that's attached to it became loose and started blowing from around the join. I couldn't see any way of removing the pipe from the end can to fix it so I packed it with exhaust paste which didn't look pretty but did the job for a couple of months until the British weather finally broke it down. Wasn't too bothered though as it gave me the perfect excuse to get my nice, shiney, Simmi end can!  :thumbup

Place to watch for on the standard exhaust is where the link pipe goes into the can,the weld gives way and starts to blow.

On closer inspection, it looks like that is what is happening on mine.

Is it possible to repair properly, or does it need to be replaced?
