MOT pass or fail?
#1
Well my bike passed the mot test this week, in fact I haven't had a bike fail (although I do check them over) unlike cars I've had maybe only 50% to 75% pass rate, the car failed on emissions this time due to exhaust leaking.

What is your pass rate????????

I've not had a fail, but a) my FZ6 has only had two MOTs and b) I get it serviced just before the MOT test

It's actually booked in for service and MOT next week Smile

No bike fails in recent years-I guess its easier to spot faults with bikes-esp if youre in the habit of regular checks. Only fail on last cage was due to faulty oxygen sensor causing higher CO emissions that allowable. Havent got to worry about bike til July & new cage due its 1st MOT end Nov Smile

100% bike and cage.

Last Fazer I received an advisory on the rear tyre after which the tester received a bollocking from his boss as the tyre was on it's way in the back of one of their vans. It was fitted 30 minutes laterĀ  :rolleyes
Better to stand and look a fool than speak and prove it !
If it aint broke, I'll fix it till it is !!

100% pass rate.

Did get an advisory once for lowish rear brake pads, but he did say its very boderline.
Replaced them a few days after just to be safe.

also 100% on the car as its a newish one.
Biking is about the Journey NOT the Destination...

Usually don't have any trouble getting the bike through the test. As Dave48 says, they're easier to check and, since things going wrong are a bit more serious when you only have two wheels, there's a good incentive for keeping an eye out for problems.

The car often fails... usually on rust or brakes. I could see the sill was going to be a problem last month and got it welded up before the MOT, the ungrateful thing then failed on the back brakes. The handbrake was working fine and the car was stopping OK, so I'd no idea it was only the front making any braking effort. Kind of illustrates why the government ditching the requirement for pre-1960s cars to have an MOT certificate is a dumb idea... some faults are hard to spot no matter how much you polish the thing.

not had a fail in the last decade.
I remember the MOT for XL185 was done from the garage owners bedroom window one saturday morning
Had to rock the bike, fire it up ,show the brakes working (I cheated on rear brake as it was goosed and sneaked it into gear)
Then he came down to his front door with the cert ......Good old 1980;s lol
Its just a ride
