I had considered changing the ratios when I have to relace my C&S in the not too distant future but after looking at the costs of a speedo healer and taking into consideration the decrease in fuel economy I've discounted the idea. My Ivanised Fazer is quick enough and if I need to accelerate quicker dropping a couple of gears isn't that much of an effort.
You say you're changing your front sprocket but dont mention the chain or rear sprocket, general concensus is it's better to replace the whole lot at the same time.
17t front sprocket fitted
2-3 more mpg
Speedo now 99% accurate
Slight loss of acceleration, but still more than acceptable
I didn't want to change a whole front tooth so went up 2 on the rear. Pepped up acceleration. Didnt notice a drop in top end as the speedo started over reading, then fitted a speedo healer.
Also didn't notice any mpg diff, but I wasn't recording mpg figures when I did the change. If it did make a diff it wasn't by much.
The down side is it is a little more revs on the motorway. So at the ton it is a little buzzy
This would be more so at 1 front tooth so I am glad I did 2 on the rear.
Well I went 1 off the front and 1 on the back. Like poop off a scoop now and revs still ok as I don't do over a ton usually.
No need to change down for overtakes.
Speedo reads about 11% out. Reads 90 when doing 80 on satnag GPS. So a speedohealer needed to sort but living with it as is for now.
