Cosmetic Upgrade fzs600
#1
Music
My old fazer is in state cosmetically and I’m not sure where to start. Photos attached.

I guess scraping and sanding the engine then repainting is an option but I am afraid I would make a complete pig’s ear of it.

I would welcome any ideas to spruce up the appearance of my bike which is otherwise mechanically sound, apart from the fact that it doesn’t idle well but I plan on arranging a carb refurb for that.

Thanks

Richard

I mean absolutely no offence but before considering any cosmetic works etc , that frame needs to be assessed as to whether the bike is roadworthy, and hence whether any cosmetic works would be worthwhile.

Probably not worth spending £100s

Tin of brush hammerite for the frame and pot black for the engine would make it look a lot better for £20.

Looks like a radiator off job, ooootube has some engine in frame tidy up videos you could draw inspiration from, spray cans with newspaper to mask off areas not needing a spruce, matt heat paint on engine fins after a dose of wire brushing , black gloss engine enamel spray on casings and frame after a wire brush or sanding, some new casing bolts and Bobs your aunty...... if that's how you want it.
Personally I'd spend a bit more time stripping stuff down to ensure all is well.
But ya makes your choice.
Good luck with it all. Cool

frame I have touched up with Fortress paint the direct to rust stuff it dries like a plastic coat almost plenty thick and good match for the oem. I wire brushed any rust and found some grubby bit under the headlight fairing and at the rear under the body work.
Radiator spray of black stove paint matt black looks ok.
Engine casing knock all the loose stuff off can spray paint or i have just touched in with brush black stove paint.
looks fine from distance only really the fins on the block that were flaking on mine.

I found a wire bush and attachment for my drill and smaller one for dremel type thing work well, does not need to be mega smooth if using brush touch up it will cover more sins than spray.
