Fitting new centre stand
#1
Hi

Just spent an hour wrestling to fit a new recon centre stand that I have bought to replace an old bent rusty one.

Really struggled to get the holes on the stand lined up with the bracket on the bike. No matter what way I shoogled the bracket there was no clear line of sight. Is there a knack to doing this? Like maybe fitting the spring last?

Also, realised that I will have to cut a bit off the centre stand to provide clearance with the aftermarket can.

Cheers for any tips.

Problem solved. Fit bolts first then slide spring down wee screwdriver into place.

Fit one bolt first with the spring fitted, which can then be used as the leverage point, then you can use the actual entre stand itself to stretch the spring so you can add the 2nd bolt.
Admittedly it's not completely obvious the first time, but once done this way you then realise how simple it is to fit.
No screwdrivers needed.
More people are born because of alcohol than will ever die from it.

Out of curiosity, what bit did you cut off the centre stand to make things fit, because that doesn't sound right?

Just a corner of the casting that was fouling the exhaust can. Nothing structural
