S1000rr rear shock conversion
#1
Evening guys,

Hope your all well, I have just found a near zero miles gen 1 s1000rr shock (bronze body). I am getting it modded with new bushes by a lad who done them before. It’s going on my fzs1000 2002 bike with low miles. I know they are meant to bolt straight in but is there anything else I should be looking for when fitting ? I wanted an R6 shock however they were all to much money on top. If the spring on this isn’t up to my weight of 100kg I’ll change it later. I bought it as it was one track day done on it and is pretty much brand new. I would love to know the spring rate on the gen 1 shock anyone ????

Cheers guys keep safe  :evil :evil

From memory, standard rear shock spring is 425lbs, BMW spring is 475lbs and R6 spring is around 550lbs.  The standard BMW spring will be borderline for you, so swapping it for an R6 spring would probably get you closer to ideal.
