It's too complicated to go into here, but they do work.

Unfortunately having worn them for the first time in the dark tonight, I got a lot of flare and glare from headlights, signs, streetlamps etc, so unless the optician can do something about it, that's a total deal-breaker

There will be someone who makes ant glare varifocal contact lenses pretty soon i’m guessing.

I had a free trial of bifocal contact lenses through Specsavers....I found that the close up vision was good but I felt it compromised distance vision so went back to standard contact lenses.
Ask for a trial....they may be ok for you.

The optician has tweaked the prescription and altered the fit which has improved matters somewhat, I did 160 miles around Devon on the weekend and another 180 back home with them in (all daytime riding) and they were ok.
The night vision is still a bit iffy, but not as bad as it was. Fingers crossed he can sort it out with a few more adjustments and it will save me having to faff around with reading glasses :thumbup
