New bike/fazer owner, proper way to go about the initial service?

So I checked and adjusted the chain yesterday. I had to use some rust remover to get it open. In this process I got some of it on the tire along with some other lubricants.
I'm a bit paranoid when it comes to slippery tires, what is the best way to clean a rear wheel tire? I've seen some specialized expensive cleaners in the shop, but what's the cheap method?

paraffin and petrol are oil based. brake cleaner would probably be better

So I hooked up CarbTune and calibrated as best I could. It's running much smoother now.


However, I saw that the first tube was much more volatile than the three others. The bike has some dips and surges when idling around 1150-1250, not a lot though.
Is this normal behavior? Should it be dead stable when idling?

- Check/change air filter

For starters, it would've made much more sense to change the air filter before doing the carb balance, because the probable better air flow may change the set up!


The trick with balancing the carbs is patience, and eventually you can get all the rods pretty level on the CarbTune.
For me it's always been 3 & 4 that have been the nuisance to level out, but i do get there in the end and all is good.
I've not really noticed any particular one being extra jumpy before though, but as i said sort the air filter out first then give it another go.
Make sure the engine is up to running temperature before adjusting anything, and do a quick TPS check before and after carb balancing.

Agreed it would have been better to do the filter and plugs beforehand, but my fingers were tingling to try it out and I didn't have a new filter at hand.


I got them much closer than they were initially.


TPS was correct both before and after.
